Hi,

Thanks, yes the system restore will probably be the best option as I
don't have anything to lose. It's just annoying not being able to see to
do this or read the message.

Hi,

When my sound went mute (also on a Vista machine) I tried System Restore
and everything worked fine afterwards. Appreciate that this is the
nuclear option but (assuming that you are confident you won't lose
anything vital, such as software) by employing it, then it may be worth
a go.

Another thought, is there a sighted friend who could help you to
determine what is happening?

Regards,

Kevin
