Hi All, I've often been a bit underwhelmed by new JAWS releases, and have sometimes posted messages to that effect on this list. However, I must say that I'm really impressed with JFW 7. It has some good new features which I can recommend people to try if they haven't already, such as the new "quick navigation keys" in MS Word. However, I'm getting inconsistent results from the new Screen Layout Document Presentation mode, which allows JAWS to display tables and horizontal lists of links in a way which more closely resembles what the sighted user sees. In principle, I think this is a big improvement, especially, but not exclusively for people using braille displays, as navigation becomes much quicker, and you can display a whole list of links on one line. However, I'm getting some very inconsistent results, and I'm not sure if this is down to the feature still needing a bit more development, or whether its something to do with my configuration, e.g. whether I shouldn't really have trusted the Merge utility when upgrading from JFW 6 to 7. The problems I'm having are on pages which contain lines, each of which has several links or buttons. If you have Screen Layout switched on, arrowing up and down a page seems to only speak the first link on a line. There seems to be no way of accessing the other links on the line unless you're using a braille display, which needs to be switched into line mode to be able to read other links. This also happened in an in-house Computer-Based Training package I was using last week, with a set of radio buttons each of which had longish labels associated with it. Some of the radio buttons were inaccessible unless I switched back into Simple Layout. Has anyone else noticed this type of problem, or do I need to do a JAWS repair to make sure I've got up-to-date settings files?
