Thank you for the reply.
The models I have been looking at include 2 USB
ports, some USB 2.0, some USB 3.0, bluetooth,
wifi etc. plus a mini SD card slot. You are
right, 32GB of SSD doesn't give you much room for
things like music files on top of your operating
system and third-party software, but you could
store them on a variety of USB or bluetooth
storage media, as well as the services you've
mentioned. The important thing is that the
hardware platform is basically sufficient for
running Windows and one of the half a dozen screen-reader solutions out there.
Sincerely, Matthew

There has just been a discussion on the BCAB list about using similar PCs
with screenreaders and many people are using tablets, with an identical
spec, quite successfully for web browsing, email, word processing etc.
These PCs are not power houses and you don't get much file storage so you
will probably want to keep documents online in places like OneDrive, Google
drive, Drop box etc. You can also use an external hard drive or buy a
Network Attached Storage device that you can access with all your devices
whether a phone or another computer.

Subject: [jaws-uk] JAWS on the Mini PC

Dear all,
Has anyone managed successfully to install JAWS
on a mini PC? These are small computers with a
quad core cpu at 1.8 ghz, 2gb ram, and 32 gb SSD.
The particular model I'm looking at comes with
Windows 8.1. media centre upgradable to windows
10. Looking at the reviews, some claim that it is
to all intents and purposes a complete Windows
box. I just want to make sure that there are no
problems installing a screen reader on it before
I part with my cash. By the way, it's priced
around the £100 mark which to be honest sounds a
bit too good to be true for the performance levels it is advertised.

Sincerely, Matthew
