Here is the more comprehensive rundown of JAWS v. VISTA Editions. Although JAWS 8.0.2173 works with VISTA I would recommend anyone seriously going in the VISTA direction to upgrade to version 9.0. With that in mind the following rundown is... Jaws Standard works on: Windows VISTA Home Basic 32bit Windows VISTA Home Preumium 32bit Jaws professional work on: Windows VISTA Business 32bit Windows VISTA Ultimate 32bit Windows VISTA Home Preumium is intended to be the consumer bulk seller and most PCs you will buy will have this on by default and has all the Media Centre goodies most users will want. For anything other than simple home networking there is absolutely no reason to go for Windows VISTA Business and in fact this edition is missing the Media Centre bits so it is definitely not intended for home use. Also IMHO there really isn't enough value in Ultimate Edition to justify the price (BTW: I do have one) which has both the Home features plus the business level features as well. Whilst there are things like full system backup and file system encryption there are third party tools that are not very expensive and some actually do a better job anyway in both fields than the default tools vailable in VISTA Ultimate.
