Hi John,

No I haven't turned my machine's wifi off. In fact I am using my
girlfriend's wifi this weekend while I am staying with her.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Andrew, I've just checked the tech support bulletins on the Freedom
Scientific website, and have come up with 1 more thing to ask you about.
Have you physically switched your netbook's wifi hardware off? On some
machines, doing this can cause internet licence manager to ask you to
re-activate JAWS.

Cheers.

John

Hi again John,

I have tried the re-initialise authorisation option from the utilities menu
and all that did was to try and authorise serial number 801!

The build of JAWS on my machine is build 522.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Hi again Andrew. Something else you could try is the Re-initialize
Authorisation command on the Utilities menu. NOTE: this is different from
Update Authorisation, in that it searches the system for an existing valid
ILM authorisation rather than using up another activation from your count.

Another simple suggestion is to put the date back by a couple of days on
your machine, restart, and see what happens. I believe at one time there was
a time-limited version of JAWS, and perhaps you've some how ended up with
one of these.

This leads me to ask exactly what build of JAWS 12 you have installed. If,
for example, you have one of the betas, then this will expire at some point,
and re-activation will be necessary. The latest build is 522. If you don't
have this, do Help >Check for updates, in order to download and install it.

If that doesn't work, another option might be to try a System Restore from a
point prior to yesterday evening, if you know how to do this, and System
Restore is enabled on your machine. If you go down this route, make a note
of your JAWS Locking Code (available from Help >About) beforehand. You can
then check the Locking Code after you've done the system restore to see if
the codes are the same. If the System Restore makes no difference, you can
always undo it if you wish.

I really hope one of these suggestions will work, but in the meantime, I'll
keep on thinking.

Cheers.

John

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried restarting the machine several times and this has had no
affect. As far as a change in hardware is concerned, I can't see how this
will have occurred as I have made no recent changes to the computer's
hardware. Last night JAWS was running OK with a full licence and today it
isn't. I just don't understand it.

Kind regards.

Andrew

Andrew, it may be a temporary glitch, in which case a restart should fix
it. The only other possibility I can think of at the moment is that your
hardware configuration has changed in some way. In this case, the locking
code for your machine changes, and the existing authorisation/activation
won't work any more. I don't think you'll need your 20-digit authorisation
code in order to re-authorise, as this should have been recorded internally,
but don't waste an activation until you've determined the reason for the
failure. If you can provide any further info, perhaps other suggestions will
present themselves.

Cheers.

John

Subject: [jaws-uk] JAWS - LOST AUTHORISATION

Hi list,

I am running JAWS12 on a Samsung netbook running Windows 7 Starter. JAWS
has been happily running on this netbook for some time. However upon
starting the netbook this morning JAWS is advising me that it needs to be
authorised and will run in 40 minute mode. Can anyone tell me what might
have happened and whether there is any way round this? I am currently away
from home for the weekend and have no idea what my 20 digit authorisation
number is in order to try and re-authorise the software.

Many thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Andrew
