Hi Jim. I used to use documents with tables a lot and do still some times so I will check this. I did report some similar problems with a version of JAWS 12 to FS and technical support did get back to me asking me to submit a typical document so they could try to replicate the problem but very shortly afterwards a fix was released. Your report seems detailed enough and it clearly states the problems you are having and how you can reproduce them. Can staff at Blazie reproduce your problem on their systems? -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Williams Sent: 13 March 2012 21:33 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: JAWS Beta Testers Hi Graham, I posted the same message on JAWS-UK and Access-UK Without receiving solutions. Since posting the message I've heard from Jackie Cairns who is also experiencing similar, but not identical, problems. I posted the problems to FS whose "one solution fits all" answer was giving me the contact details of my supplier, Blazie, who are struggling to find an answer. Problems: JAWS 13 (latest build), XP Home, Office 2003. Since upgrading to JAWS 13 I have encountered the following problems. 1 Highlighting a block of text. Starting from the beginning of the text to be highlighted I press the End key to take me to the end of the line. I then press the PgDn key and JAWS announces XX number of characters highlighted. If I press the PgDn key again to highlight more text JAWS remains silent and the cursor has only moved down 1 line. (Sighted help has confirmed this). Pressing the Down cursor does move the highlight to the next line but there is a delay of about 5 seconds before JAWS announces this move. 2 When entering a Word document that has a Table, JAWS does not announce it has entered the Table, it merely reads out a number or the text in the first column. If I Tab to the next column JAWS says "selected". Pressing Tab again to the next column and JAWS announces the characters in the previous column as "unselected". Bizarrely, moving the cursor up and out of the Table and JAWS states "Out of Table" and moving the cursor back into the Table and JAWS stays silent. I have found a work around for this which is: Alt+Tab out of the document and repeat to go back into the document and JAWS announces "Table X". This fix was not necessary using JAWS 9. If you have 2 documents open, both with Tables as part of the document it gets even more complicated. Pressing Alt+Tab takes you out of the 1st document and into the 2nd one. On entering the table in the 2nd document JAWS will say "Table 0" and there is no response from JAWS when pressing any cursor key. Moving back to the 1st document sometimes gets an identical response so it can be sometimes difficult to tell which table and document you are in. 3 Again in a Table. If there is a date field in one of the colums in the Table another problem arises. Pressing the left cursor to make sure I am at the start of the date gets no response from JAWS. Pressing the Right cursor once and JAWS announces the second figure in the date (sighted help confirms this). Pressing the left cursor again and JAWS does announce the first figure in the date. If I press the Right cursor on entering the date column and JAWS announces the last figure of the date As mentioned above, none of these problems cropped up in JAWS 9. I've asked this question on bcab but I think a better approach would be to say what problems you are having. Quite often, people doing early beta testing are subject to non disclosure agreements where they cannot discuss issues with anyone other than technical support staff or possibly other beta testers. This makes total sense to me. I use JAWS 13 and office 2003 on a windows vista PC and have tested it with a demo of JAWS and windows 7 service pack 1 and have had no significant problems so far.
