I am using jaws 2018 windows 10 and still use IE as my main browser however, I
also have waterfox install as well as firefox.
What I have found is waterfox works better than IE and firefox on some sight
e.g. money savings expert credit card eligibility checker.
Regarding Jaws home and Jaws pro, when windows xp came out, jaws pro was needed
to work with xp pro and home for xp home but not sure of the situation these
days also, I personally have found a bug in the latest update of Jaws so went
back to the previous version I have reported it to sight and sound (the problem
occurred on their PC as well) but don't know if anything will get done because
I have reported a problem with Jaws, word spell checker in office 2016 pro and
so far nothing has happened in terms of a permanent fix although sight and
sound have created a macro as a get around.
By the way the latest problem is if you go into the envelopes or labels options
in word, and tab once from the address field, Jaws will stop speaking and it
unload itself.

Don't think Internet Explorer is very reliable now, I use Chrome as my main
browser but sometimes need to use Firefox so I've got them both installed.
This link shows you how to turn off Firefox from auto updating, I'm still on
52.9, I get a link on the firefox home page asking me to upgrade to version
60.2 but I just ignore it.
