" However, a friend of mine tells me that if you do that Windows Update
keeps trying to put IE8 back in. "

Your friend is right but there is a IE8 blocking tool which you can
Google for. I did post up the details in JAWS-UK a while ago suspecting
people may have their issues with this particular browser for the
moment. The problem right now is that the rest of the world are having
to get used to the web equivolent a new set of physical laws handed on
down by Microsoft. Kludges developers have used for years to make
Internet Explorer work with their sites no longer work and have to go
back to the drawing board.

For now some may legitimately refer to this update an Internet Exploder
8.0.
