Look in the Speech and Sounds manager, again in the Configuration
manager Options as before. Arrow to Choose classic. This will nullify
anything else you could have chosen.

Hi Phil, have tried your suggestion both checking and unchecking,
but nothing works. Any more ideas? When I first looked at it it was
unchecked so I checked it, logged out, closed down and left the computer
to
recover. Then I reooted, went in and I still had to use the Verbosity
setting to keep it quiet so I checked it - same result!

Hi Val,

It sounds as though you have the speak indented characters setting
checked
in the default settings.

To get to the default settings to check this:

press JawsKey+6 on the top row then hit control+shift+d.

The setting you need to check is in the text processing tab and is
called
"speak indented characters". This is a check box which you need to have
unchecked.

When you have finished making your changes, tab to ok and press enter.

Now hit alt+f4 and answer y when asked if you wish to save changes.

Note: It is also possible to make all of these settings in individual
application configurations.

HTH,

Phil Medway.

Help wanted! I can't find the command in Configuration Manager to
turn off the indentation feature. It is driving me mad because, despite
my
searching, I can't remember where it is. I have to physically stop it
temporarily on both the HTML and Outlook programme in the Verbosity
settings. Save my sanity someone please!
