Hi Jim, Have you tried a jaws repair. When I try to define a short cut I am taken back to the JAWS icon. If I then press Alt+Tab the Properties sheet is still open with the edit field for the short cut key empty. They are windows functions that you define and customise. I see 2 problems that you are facing from your mail below, correct me if wrong in the understanding. 1. Unable to delete the shortcut for JAWS 9. 2. Unable to designate a hotkey to launch JAWS 13. Await your reply, to further assist you with a solution. First of all, I deleted the short cut key combo I had for starting JAWS 9 (Alt+Ctrl+J) with the intention of using that for JAWS 13 but that wasn't accepted. As I mentioned I tried several other combinations but without success. Can you remind me where the list of short cuts keys in use is kept within the JAWS menu system please. From the options there hit enter on create shortcut send to desktop. Escape out of the menus and then go to the desktop and hit the J key till you hear JAWS. On this desktop icon hit the alt and enter key. This should open up a properties dialog box at the General page. Tab on this page till you hear Shortcut key and in the edit box of the same hit the keys you want as hotkeys to launch JAWS. After which tab to the apply button and hit enter. Then tab around and hit enter on the OK button, this should close the properties dialog box. Insert F4 to quit JAWS and try hitting the hot keys you specified to test if they work in launching JAWS. To disable JAWS from launching at startup go to the general/basics options for JAWS and uncheck the option that says launch JAWS at startup. NOTE: You will have no support from JAWS on your windows log on screen if you do this.
