Hi Ismail, I have been attempting to do as you say but each time I reach number 5 in your list, immediately on pressing the short cut key combination (and I have tried several different combonations) I am taken back to the JAWS icon. I press Alt+Tab to go back into Properties and the edit box for the short cut key is empty again. I also think it might be because I am choosing a key combination that is already being used but where is the list of these short cut keys held so that I can check this theory out. Find the jaws 13 icon on your desktop 2. Press the context menu key (the key next to the control key on the right hand side) 3. Cursor up and down to properties and hit enter. 4. Tab to short cut key and delete anything that's there. 5. Press the key combination you want to use and tab to apply and hit space bar. 6. Tab through till you get to short cut key and make sure jaws is announcing your key combination then tab to OK and hit enter. One of the reasons jaws would not let you set up a short cut key is if that short cut is being used somewhere else in another programme. Personally I would run a repair on jaws if this problem continues and see if that's solves the problem. Regards, Ismail. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Williams" <jwbr33694@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, February 20, 2012 10:27 AM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: Hot key for start up > Hi Mujtaba, > > Whatever key combination of keys I enter in the edit box I > get dumped back at the JAWS icon without having a chance to > press the Apply or OK buttons. > > First of all, I deleted the short cut key combo I had for > starting JAWS 9 (Alt+Ctrl+J) with the intention of using > that for JAWS 13 but that wasn't accepted.
