Hi Wendy I don't know what I did differently, other than to check *check grammar when typing*, but I managed just as you said, even though I'd tried this previously several times with no success. I notice that I can only tell if it is checked or not using the Jaws cursor, but that's a small price for success. Thanks again. First go across all the check boxes and check grammar on, check grammar with spelling, and anything else you want. There is a setting... button, so enter on that. In there is a long list of things to check or uncheck using the space bar, so you just cursor up and down to see what is on and what is off, and if you want something on just press space. Then go across to ok and enter. I need to check the punctuation in quotes and a couple of other things. It's the radial buttons that I can't access with jaws. Do what Sue says, go to tools, options and the spelling and grammar tab. Then tab across and uncheck everything to do with grammar, unless you are absolutely sure you want it. I have the spell checker on, but never the grammar checker, as it is so fussy about the least little thing it thinks is wrong, but really isn't. If you write in your own style and the grammar checker thinks you are wrong it will stop you at every instance, so checking even a small file can take ages. If you do want to set a style, I think there are some radio buttons you can cursor through to find the right one, then just tab across to ok and press enter. I hope this helps.
