is not the one I really want but the other was 2 years ago and as stated it
has a screen shot, but only because a sighted person was coming and to give him
an idea how it should look still this may tide you over Dorothy

Subject: [jaws-uk] Unwanted e-mail - update

All

After several days, and many suggestions, I thought it might be helpful to
others to get the synthesis of all the comments, and what is (I hope) the
solution to the problem. Many thanks to all contributors, and especially to
Amie, despite your reticence, I think you provided the comment that finally led
to the solution.

1 Identify all addresses that you want to receive mail for. If you are a
member of groups like the Jaws users group, you might find that incoming mail
is not addressed to your own account, but to some group address to preserve the
anonymity of all members. Place these addresses in your address book, I have
named them all "Incoming ..." for ease of identification.
2 Go to Tools/Message Rules/Mail, and click to create a new rule.
3 Select the option "Where to or cc contains people". Light bulb moment for
me, was that you need to select this by pressing space bar after you have moved
the highlight to it.
4 Press tab and select the desired action ie "Delete it". You could opt not to
download from server, but this would mean it would hang around in the ether for
ever, and block up your server.
5 Tab to the next box and highlight the "Where to or cc contains person again"
then press enter on it (another light bulb moment). This takes you to a
dialogue box where you can select all the addresses you want to accept mail
for, as identified in step 1. You can go in to your address book and select
all addresses then return to the dialogue box.
6 Once you have selected some people, an (options" button becomes available.
Click on this and a further dialogue box opens. You are offered the choice of
taking the requested action where to does contain the named person, or where to
does not contain the named person. Third light bulb moment. Click on the does
not option and tab to OK.
7 Tab to apply or OK in the various boxes to take you out of the message rules
system.

You should then have a rule to delete any mail that is not addressed to you, or
the lists you are a member of, which is exactly what I wanted to get to. I
will be honest, and admit that I am still waiting to see if it works, but it
sounds like the job.

Going forward, you will need to add any other group names that you want to get
mail for, but otherwise it should keep your in box relatively clear.

Hope some of you find this useful, and thanks again to all who helped me get to
this point.

Ken
