Courtesy of Google A type of cabling technology for transferring data to and from digital devices at high speed. Some professional digital cameras and memory card readers connect to the computer over FireWire. FireWire card readers are typically faster than those that connect via USB. Also known as IEEE 1394, FireWire was invented by Apple Computer but is now commonly used with Windows-based PCs as well. www.bytecamera.com/content/view/23/27/ -----Original Message----- From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dorothy Ingram-Gorban Sent: 01 January 2007 15:54 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Firewire? Hi all, I have been listening to my TnAUk tapes and on computer Active issue 130=20 is an article called "Budget notebooks. and ratings. I listened to the ratings. a Futjitsu Siemens with what sounded like Amillo=20 came top. The reader Fred does not spell words.the next was an Acer Inspire=20 and a number. They were all about 400, much less than I paid for my Toshiba=20 which Sound has muted yet again!! However The one which might have come top=20 failed as it had on the front something called Firewire and the Firewire was=20 not linked internally. I am sorry to say I do not know what A Fire is and=20 what it could do, the Computer Active Mag expected all these Budget=20 Notebooks to have a Fire or Wire Fire. I cannot re listen to it as I got=20 the wallets in the post this morning. Does anyone here have a Firewire and=20 if so can you explain just what it does for you. Dorothy Ps The Budget notebook which looked as if it had a Firewire was called a=20 Watford and in all other respects was good, but spoilt their rating by not=20 being open. and above board.=20 ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3Dunsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=3Dfaq] ** or send a message, to=20 ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq --=20 No virus found in this incoming message.
