Try at least jaws 7.1 as this was the first version of jaws to natively support firefox I believe. the version of firefox at the time was 1.5, I think. I do not know how well this works with later versions of Firefox. You can always try portable versions of firefox and see which one works best for you.
Also, if you want to use firefox, you might want to alternatively try the fre nvda screenreader from
