Look at the silly support you get after your company pays $1000 for their product! I am extremely dismayed with their response towards my support querry. No wonder NVDA with their crippled resources is still trying and striving hard to bring the best support to their consumers and that too for free! -----Original Message----- From: Mujtaba Merchant [mailto:mujtabam@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 10:45 PM To: 'Freedom Scientific Technical Support' Subject: RE: Freedom Scientific - Technical Support Request Hello, Thank you for your email. I am working with a company, the company has Symantec installed on all the computers. If JAWS cannot support Symantec, shouldn't your team work with Symantec to address the differences? If not can't you and your team have a work around to accommodate the differences in order to have your product work in accordance to what my employer paid for? OR would you rather have a blind guy based in India lose his job and all hope of survival in a corporate environment? Today due to sight loss, I feel incompetent in my work place. I was extremely confident with JAWS helping me in being able to get back to the workforce. Kindly advice if this is going to be addressed in the next 1 month or not? I am no silly off the street and do not believe in begging for pennies and do not wish that my company question my integrity when it comes to my knowledge and skill. I am attaching the details of the registration of the product if it is of concern to you. I am expecting a resolution at your earliest as a patch or an agreement with Symantec to resolve the limitations that you might have with them. -----Original Message----- From: Grant Downey [mailto:Gdowney@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Freedom Scientific Technical Support Sent: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 9:29 PM To: mujtabam@xxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Freedom Scientific - Technical Support Request Hello Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Support. JAWS does not have built in support for Symantec Anti Virus software. It is known not to be accessible with JAWS. We suggest 1: Microsoft Security Essentials Or 2. Vipre from Sunblet software. http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com These are two out of many anti-virus programs, but they are known to work well with JAWS. Does JAWS behave differently with a computer that has Symantec Anti Virus software installed on it? If yes, are there any settings that need to be changed on Symantec to allow JAWS to work like the way it should? I asked this because, I did encounter some weird behaviour with JAWS on my work computer. For example, we use Microsoft Communicator as a Instant Message client, when I move to the contact list of communicator, it reads out the name of the contact but not the status. And sometimes, it reads out overlapping names in the contact list, and other times it reads out the status of the contact. It's difficult to tell whether the contact is online, offline, in a meeting or away. Kindly advise. I am using JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 Operating system. Sometimes JAWS just starts reading everything on the screen randomly and I can't use the control key to shut it up!
