Hi,
If your friend muted the sound it will need to be unmuted by going into the
control panel | sounds and audio | and the volume is near the top of that page.
A shortcut I use on this on other machines is to do the following (This may or
may not work, be careful!):
use windows key + R to get to run.
type control.
when control panel comes up press alt + d
type in "sounds and audio devices" (ommiting the quotes).
Press enter.
You should see the dialog come up and can change the settings.
I used this all the time when at uni people kept muting the sounds - very
annoying.

I was tiring to say no sound from Laptop a friend came in yesterday and
update the AVG he is sighted and he did a full system scan. Then we tried
this desk top to get to the part Freeserve which is tag as Spam friends
we did see that spam was blocked and obviously didn't want to untick
that as I world get real Spam not the odd friends being tagged. Last
night I went to the laptop to put on myself to see is the Balloon ha;ad
gone all Ok and NO sound the Logos and the symbol for Microsoft all
there and the desktop it is not Jaws it is no a sound across the board
went into Kurzwel and again not a sound. I would buy a laptop again that
doesn't have an External Sound control. I know in the System to ray will
the Sond Max but without Jaws cannot tell what I am doing I can also try
the start menu and get to control Panel but again no Jaws to tell if
I am on my head or otherwise! My friend did turn all of and he cannot
stand the sound Jaws and I cold reload JFW but it is Microsoft and all
that is muted. Any ideas. I darenot fiddle in my last Email I was trying
to say I had a brief case come onto my desktop and tried to ge rid of it.
from you last answer what have I done wrong I though it was something that
had decided to visit me uninvited. I suppose it is come my computer
and this is the desktop keeps nagging about History. I donor want a History
lesson what it is on about and what doesit want to do . I think it is
past stuff but why is it called History. Thanks a lot Dorothy
I would never get a laptop if no external Sound control it was got for
