[jaws-uk] Re: Dialogue Box

Low resolution causes more issues with Jaws now than a high one as Windows
expects a minimum height of 768 pixels. Anything less than this forces content
off screen causing the sort of issues you are trying to avoid.
Jaws is perfectly happy at 1920 x 1080.

Thats quite a high resolution for a small laptop screen. I would think that
any dialogue window would be very small. I don't know if you have any sight
but my reccomendation would be to lower it to 1068 by  whatever to see if
that enables the dialogue box  to be accessible  preferably with a sighted
person there to have visible confirmation.

I have an Asus laptop and no additional monitor. Resolution is 1920x1080.
Many thanks - Sue.

Sorry I forgot to ask, are you using a laptop or a desktop with a monitor?
If the latter, or I suppose either really, you should check the monitor
settings in control panel for resolution, colour and hz settings. I still
prefer 800x600 and 32 bit colour settings although I am totally blind
because it suits jaws better than really high resolutions. If you have a
seperate monitor then keep to 60 hz but with a laptopit varies on the
laptop. Again alterations to these may alter how the video intercept
handles
things.

Will need to try it. From memory the same thing happens and I manually
need to go to file explorer.
Many thanks - Sue.

Hi again Sue, something else occurs to me. What happens when you
connect a memory pen to the usb? The same dialogue box appears after a
couple of seconds asking if you want to play the files or open with
explorer. Is this dialogue box accessable or does the same thing
happen? As the pen is a static thing the box may be accessable whereas
the cd only spins while windows looks at it and once it stop spinning
the box may vanish.

OK have looked at my autoplay settings. When I put a CD in the drive
I'm still getting the same dialogue box which I can't find access to.
Many thanks - Sue.

HiSue,

A couple of things.

1: in the start search box, windows key, type autoplay settings. Open
the first result. Tab and you'll get options for your various
removeable devices. On the cd drive, I've got open folder to view files.

Another thing to try.

Open the pc using this pc key, windows E. Arrow down to the drive you
want to operate. Then press shiftF10. That brings up a context menu
that you can explore.

Any probs, get back.

Tom
