Jamie, Below are the instructions I got with my Ion cassette deck. These should work for you as well. As it is a USB device, when first installing it takes over as the primary sound device in the PC after the first reboot, this could cause loss of sound from your PC and thus your screen reader temporarily. However to get around this you can disconnect it after rebooting, to make your soundcard the default device again under the "audio" page, before re-connecting it. Then go into "control panel, sounds & audio devices" and set your soundcard to the default before reconnecting it. The ION will then co-exist quite happily as the second sound device. Good luck. Essentially I have purchased a USB cassette player which I'm hoping to use to rip my old cassettes into MP3 format. However, when I plug in the device, it stops Jaws speaking through the laptop built in speakers and I then can't use the system without unplugging the device again - obviously not ideal!! I'm guessing that the system default audio device is being switched to the USB cassette player but what is the best way to be able to plug in the device but still have Jaws speaking through the built in speakers? Mainly I'm not sure if this is best done through Jaws or through the system audio device properties? Any help greatly appreciated.
