Apologies for this message. The computer's gone mad. I'm trying to sort out a
problem with something that happens at start up

I get an error message about a file called

NMIndexStoresvr.exe

It seems to try and initialise, but then shuts everything down. That's why I'm
trying to clean everythinkrything

  Thanks for that Kevin

t at start up. That's when the message comes initially, although it appears
periodically now and interupts IE and everything. You might be able to help with
something else now. I keep getting an error message which says the computer
has encountered a problem and needs to close. I think it's having a problem
with a file called:

  NMIndexStoreSVR.exe

I've no idea what that file is. I've tried looking for it in the search
option of the start menu and even googling it, but no luck. Hve you any idea
what it is or how I'd get rid of it. I think the computer is trying to open i

Johnny a lot of people are using microsoft security essentials at the
moment. If you go to the microsoft website, you can find it, make sure you
choose the correct one for your operating system. There are a few more again at
www.freedownloads.com but how screenreader friendly they are I am not sure
although AVG is doable using the rout jaws to pc curser feature. Microsoft
is screenreader friendly.

I'll do the de frag thing as well. You mention anti virus scan. I think
I've got loads of viruses from downloading stuff from torrent sites, so they're
harder to get rid of. Any tips for a good accessible anti virus scanner?

Johnny also have you done a full anti virus scan lately? also what
about a defrag? A useful defragmentation programme is smart defrag. Once
installed it can run in the background automatically defragmenting or options
can be chosen with in the programme eg, defrag, fast optamise or deep optamise.
Go to www.freedownloads.com and look for smart defrag or type smart defrag in
the search box provided.

I've done the C Cleaner one and it was really straight forward.
Don't know how successful it was though. I think the computer is running
better, but that could just be wishful thinking.

I'll do the other one tomorrow. Thanks.

super anti spyware found at www.superantispyware.com look for the free version
as there is also a proffessional version.

Could any of you recommend an easy to use free piece of clean up
software? I think my laptop is full of bugs and stuff. It's not running
properly atall. I've a feeling it's from downloading loads of things, so I
just want to give it a good clean up. Something I can totally use myself and
free.

              Thanks a lot

              Johny
