I need to use different colours in word documents but Jaws appears to be unreliable. Certain parts of my documents need to be highlighted with a yellow background and I am trying to do this by using the shading option under format. If I select some text and shade it, I try to check that I have the right colours by pressing insert with the number 5. Jaws will tell me the foreground and background colours but often Jaws tells me that it is still black on white when a colleague assures me that it is back on yellow. This problem occurs more when there is more than one line I wish to change to yellow. I am using Windows XP, Jaws 7.0 and Office 2003. I have found a work around for this problem by parking the Jaws cursor at the top of the window so I can switch cursors and find out what Word format (point size and colour) is being used, but it would be much easier to use the insert plus number 5 command. Am I using the wrong command? Is there a better way of checking what colour I am using?
