Hi again Scott,
I have pasted below an explanation from the Jaws help on configuration files.
The default configuration is a fallback configuration which is used where no
application specific configuration is present.
Jaws help text follows:
Configuration Manager Files
Configuration Manager stores settings in files with a .jcf extension. The full
Configuration Manager file name is determined by the application to which
the settings will apply. For example, the executable file that runs Word is
Microsoft Word.exe so the Configuration Manager settings file for Word is
Microsoft
Word.jcf.
One of the most powerful features of JAWS is that settings can be applied
globally or on an application specific level. Application specific settings are
saved using the application name with the .jcf extension, such as Microsoft
Word.jcf. Global settings are saved in the Default.jcf file. Application
specific
settings can override global settings, so if you change a setting in
Default.jcf and some of your programs do not reflect this change, make the
change
in the .jcf files for those programs as well.

Thanks for that. However, this flies in the face of the point of the default
file, as I have always understood it.
I always understood that the default file was the one which took priority, if
not then the default file has absolutely no purpose!

The Outlook configuration settings will override the default ones.
Change any settings in the Outlook configuration and save them and all
should be well.

Hi
I have noticed this with previous versions of JFW and now with V6.
I have an 80 cell Powerbraille and I like to turn off the dots 7 and 8
markings for highlighting etc. I do this by going into config manager,
selecting default.jcf, settings, braille options and then going into the
markings dialogue, unchecking everything.
Still, in Outlook anyway, the braille highlighting is still coming up.
What's going on? When I look at Outlook.jcf it tells me that highlighting is
checked even though I unchecked it in the default.jcf.
Any light that can be brought to bear on this rather puzzling occurrence
would be greatly apreciated. BTW, I am so far pleased with V6 for
responsiveness and one or two niggling problems that have been sorted out since
v5.1. Just off to experiment with the Daisy player.
