Try going to "programme settings", then tab around (within the first
group, "common settings" until you reach the skins. Uncheck these
skins and, the next time you open Avast you shouldn't have the
problem. Having said that, I'm using latest (updated) version of Jaws
9 so maybe you could give this a try.
