Angela Using Microsoft Word as an example, here are a few commands used to manipulate text in a document. First you have to select the text you want to work with and this is done as follows: Place the cursor on the first character of the text you want to select and hold down the shift ke, then press... Right arrow - to select a single character Control + right arrow - to select the word on which the cursor is positioned Control+Down Arrow - to select the whole line on which the cursor is positioned. Remember you must keep the shift key pressed down with all the above commands because entering something without the shift key will de-select all the text you have selected. Note also that using the opposite arrow key with the commands has the opposite effect, ie. the characters/words/lines will be de-selected. so by pressing the above commands repeatedly, you can quickly select a chunk of text to work with. Once you have selected the text, release the keys and press: The Delete key - to delete the selected text. Control + c - to copy the selected text to the clipboard Control + x - to cut the selected text to the clipboard. Once on the clipboard, text can be pasted somewhere else, either in the document you're working on or into something else like an Email message for instance. Note these commands are not specific to Word, they work in most Microsoft applications. Hi, Can someone tell me, please? how I am able to delete or move chunks of text from within a document. I'm assuming that some kind of markers are involved here. Sorry for the seemingly simple questions, but I'm still getting to grips with things... Thanks so much for your help. Kind regards, Angela. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq This e-mail has come from Experian, winner of the UK's 'Business of the Year' 2003 and 2005. ========================================================================== Information in this e-mail and any attachments are confidential, and may not be copied or used by anyone other than the addressee, nor disclosed to any third party without our permission.
