Hi Sandra, If you go to a web page, and Jaws says that application mode is on, then this indicates that the page is meant to behave more like a regular program than a standard web page. You can't use standard reading keys or quick navigation keys, but you should be able to tab between controls, as in a normal program. If you find that you can't use the web page in application mode, then you can switch to the normal virtual pc cursor by pressing insert+z. In fact, on such a page, pressing insert+z repeatedly cycles you round virtual pc cursor on, virtual pc cursor off, and application mode. David. original message: Hello, My name is Sandra. I have been on the list for ages and although I haven't said much, I have been intrigued by what I have read during the year. I have Jaws 13 and increasingly find myself faced with the words, "application mode on." No amount of alt tabbing, f 6 pressing and cursor changing will turn it off. I can't read anything much. How do you turn it off? Why does it come on in the first place? Very best wishes, Sandra. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** jaws-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
