Hi Joan,
When you go into word, press Alt with V, then go down to normal view and
press enter on that. It should solve your problem.
I also used to go all the way down the menu and turn off markup, ruler and
task pain. They should be in the View menu lower down. Get rid of those and
JW seems to work a lot better. It did for me anyways.

layout.
