Which version of Audacity have you got?
The help has never been that good, but there's a wiki at:

which contains a page on usb turntables which might be vaguely relevant:

One thing you'll have to do to record from a usb device using audacity is to
set the recording device to the usb device - this is done on the audio i/o page
of the preferences.

Hi all,
Many thanks for your help. I've downloaded the Guide, which is useful
but I'm still having difficulties in using the Audacity Help pages,
i.e. those accessed from within Audacity itself. On attempting to
click on "contents" nothing happens. Again, f6 doesn't read the help
pages. Am I doing something wrong? Can any one help please?
