There are two things which can be done here.

  1) He goes to "Save As" instead of Save, and selects "Word 95-2003
Document".

  2) You go to http://tinyurl.com/y5w78r and download Microsoft's
Compatibility Pack which will then let you open, edit and save Office 2007
files within earlier versions of Office.

  Hello everyone.

  Can anyone help me please!...

I have received an attachment from a client that has been saved into word.
It appears he is using the newest version of Microsoft, therefore, I am unable
to open the attachment.

I have been told he should be able to save his document into an older version
of word, is that right.

If so, how is that done!...

I am using Microsoft Office 2003.

  Many thanks,

  Shirley.
