Be extremely cautious with DiscKnight if you are getting disc errors. Contact me before performing a repair (as it says in the guide). The issue is DiscKnight is designed to work around a permanent disc error to allow recovery of data in the case where there is a genuine bad sector. However if the error is bogus one and the sector contents are still valid (in the case of disc error 26), junk will be read, altered to make sense by DiscKnight - but with the possible loss of data. It will then attemp to write the sector back, which is likely to fail with another disc error, but if it suceeds the good data will have been overwrittem.
