It's more the but I bought that software, why can't I use it? Because
you can only use it on the machine that you purchased it with and that
one is dead now... problem. 

 

I hate car analogies. This one would have to go something like, for a
limited time only you can purchase this car for $15,000 and we'll throw
in free blue florescent lighting and 1 year free oil changes. (you may
only drive this vehicle on roads with fewer than 3 lanes and the vehicle
can never be sold) Or you can purchase this one for $20,000.

Absolutely. I'm all for getting rid of OEM software all together. I

doubt Microsoft will go for that though. The customer doesn't understand

why OEM is cheaper, no matter how many times you explain it. It simply

doesn't make sense to them.
