Odd - time for tracing.
MMC is difficult (at best) to troubleshoot without it.
Unfortunately, this is also only available via PSS (for now).

Have seen something similar in the newsgroups 2 or 3 times without any
solution....(didn't find anything related in livesearch or google)
ISA MMC cannot be opened. Get an error like "ISA Server can't load properties.
Error 0x80004005 - unknown error". After that "MMC can't be initialized".
ISA Version is 4.0.2165.610, Windows Server 2003 Standard SP1 german (no R2).
Occured maybe after the second last Windows Update (WSUS) (July).
No way to get ISA MMC opened on that box. Not with mmc -> add snapin.
Nothing. According to the original posters no MMC 3.0 installed.
Connecting remote via mmc works fine.
Anybody seen this?
