Hi I had this problem before and I asked yahoo service to help me and here their answer, hope it will help you: If you are connecting to the Internet from behind a firewall and/or Proxy server, you may have trouble using our chat software. To get Around this, you can contact your system administrators to request that They give you access to our servers. If you do not have a system Administrator, please contact the company that made your firewall for Further assistance in accessing our servers. The default settings for our Chat servers are 8000-8030. You will need TCP inbound and outbound access for these ports.
