I tried to put the service pack at network service account and I
couldn't. So guess what, I had to rebuild the box

If you're talking about ISA 2000, then that should have been the
default.
Since you make a point of this change, I'm assuming ISA 2004.
You need to remove that application and notify the vendor that they're
creating an unsupported ISA configuration.
PSS will tell you to revert that change (cuz I tell them to).

Jim,
This is nothing. There is another one (not mentioning the name) that you
have to change the firewall service account to local system in order to
get (their) product working and they don't know it. But unfortunately
this is a necessary evil for us

Yep - that's what you need..
..an application that requires you to disable your firewall before you
can install it.
That's the epitome of sloppy software engineering.
If they don't know how to handle the services they're attaching
themselves to, they have no business installing on your firewall.

..but that's just me.

I'm not sure if the original documentation mentions it either. When I
first installed the software, it kept giving me errors and wouldn't
install. So I disabled the firewall, and then installed it, and it went
in fine.

Unfortunately I did install. Their document on service pack doesn't
mention that you have to disable firewall service, so I guess some thing
is wrong with mine and have to apply service pack one more time properly
