Well, I have selected new components from the list in the hope that the next screen will be for operating mode. But, it just goes on installing those new components and then finishes the install. Jim, if you want (or have time) to come by and have a look let me know, I'll open the appropriate door . I don't quite understand it, I thought that it would (should) have worked, perhaps I have disabled something that disallows modifying the mode now ? Thanks for you continued help Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Harrison To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Monday, September 10, 2001 9:27 AM Subject: [isalist] Re: re-install http://www.ISAserver.org I would expect that it would to a point, where you get the option to select your operating mode. You do have to un/reinstall to switch between Standalone and Enterprise editions, though. Does it matter that it's in standalone mode ? Or does the cache need an IIS present ? It asks me for the cd when I select "Change", then proceeds as if I ran set-up. Humm :) Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Harrison To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2001 11:06 PM Subject: [isalist] Re: re-install http://www.ISAserver.org That should have worked if you chose "Change", not "Remove". My ISA is in standalone BTW What next ,, copy all my settings to paper and do it the easy way :) Thanks, Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Harrison To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2001 9:52 PM Subject: [isalist] Re: re-install http://www.ISAserver.org This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A1: If you use the Add/Remove programs wizard and choose "Change" for the ISA entry, you can change the ISA operating mode between Firewall, Integrated and Cache all day long and not lose any (applicable) settings. "Applicable" means that if you remove firewall functionality, all your server publishing and packet filtering settings go <poof>. A2: if you un/reinstall standalone ISA, then yes; all your settings go <poof>. Whether you lose Array settings is determined by whether or not there are any server in the array. There is a script that will save your settings to a script that will re-import them to your new installation. It's not written by me, but I've used it a time or two and it works fairly well. It's not perfect, but it hasn't choked my ISA yet. Oh, look; it's attached... ;-) Jim Harrison MCP(2K), A+, Network+, PCG ----- Original Message ----- From: Mark Strangways To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2001 6:34 PM Subject: [isalist] re-install http://www.ISAserver.org A quick easy question, I think I know what the answer will be but I don't like it so I'm hoping I'm wrong. here goes, I want to re-install so I can add the download cache. It seems to be the only way to do this. If I reinstall will it change all my settings back to defaults...? If it does , can I restore from my firewall only backup ? What I think .. first question ... yes second ..... no Anyone know for sure ?
