I have used this in the past with success on NT4 and W2K boxes. In fact,
just 2 weeks ago I had to break into a W2K Pro box that we inherited.
Couldn't just wipe the drive because there was data in it. The only thing
was I had to use a blank password. For some reason after setting the
password to something I was not able to log into Windows...

The answer is a Linux bootdisk. The process is documented here and here:

Hi Everyone.
Has anyone had this problem?

I have a W2KServer/AD/ISA Machine and installed W2K Resource kit.
I was trying SYSTEM SCANNER which is under Security tools, so I run it, scan
the system, ran Departmental Server test, checked the results, close the
tool with the Close and Exit option, Rebooted the machine ¡¡ AND NOW I AM
UNABLE TO LOG ON TO THE MACHINE, THE TOOL TOOK AWAY THE PASSWORD !! (I ran
these tests when logged on as the Administrator).
Administrator is the only user on that machine.

Is there a default password that SYSTEM SCANNER inserts when doing tests,
What is it?
Does this tool work on Windows 2000 or Only on NT4.0?
How do I recover the password, How do I crack it?

Help Me Please!!!
