Is the mailbox located on a different server than the one you're using for OWA? That sounds like the behavior indicative of using multiple servers without having one set up as a front-end server... But I'm confused about it using the IP address of the internal exchange box- does it actually show the IP in the url? If so, I'd say you've got the IP as the FQDN set for the the smtp virtual server...

Is this accessed via http://www.zonamovil.com.pa/ ? I can't hit that url if so...

What do I need to add to my DNS management interface on the Domain
controller in order to produce the split DNS effect?

Your internal dns should point to mail.your.domain or whatever you want
to call it, with the exchange servers ip address. You should also only
be using internal dns servers on your nics.

Hi Gregory,
Don't think so, whenever I ping my domain fro an external client I get
the external ip address of the isa server, the ip is the one assigned to
my domain in my ISP dns servers. Since I want to make use of split dns,
do I need to set my internal dns as primary or secondary? My internal
dns server is running on the same server as active directory and
exchange server.

Thanks

Is it possible the isp is handing out the wrong ip address? this dns
zone that your isp handles, is it primary or secondary? If secondary,
what zone does it xfer?

Have you modified the OWA login pages?
By default, they use the connection name as specified in the URL.

Subject: [isalist] internal ip shows up after mail server publishing

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hello,

I am somewhat a newcomer to this, and I have read a lot of instructions
at isaserver.org, but still having some trouble.......

I have recently installed Exchange server on an internal network server
behind ISA server 2000, I use the server publishing rule for secure mail
server publishing to publish the server then I set up web publishing
rules to publish OWA. The server Exchange is running on has a DNS
server installed with Active Directory to handle internal clients. I
want to take advantage of split DNS so my ISP is hosting the DNS for
mydomain.com and I am using the same name on the internal network.

The problem is when I test login on to the OWA site on the internal
network, it works fine. When I test it from an external network, the
login screen I get is the private IP of the internal exchange server
displayed on the login box. When I enter login info it tries to connect
directly to the private IP of the internal exchange server instead of
going through the external IP of the ISA Server. This seems to have some
thing to do with the DNS but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Thanks

Loney

The correct technical term for haggis stalking is "havering".
