You (or something else) changed permissions in the registry. This is likely the result of some "lockdown" process you applied. SP1 does NOT change permissions for any part of ISA storage. -----Original Message----- From: Ara [mailto:ara@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, March 05, 2005 2:27 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: RE: [isalist] RE: firewall service stops Hi yes the connection is gone and I get bunch of errors related to web proxy service and http filter. That actually happened right after I changed the settings on download security to disable java and activex. After pressing apply, I got a nasty message that settings can't be saved. The firewall service didn't start so I said let's reboot the box. That didn't help either so I had to remove the plug-in and change the service account. I had sent another post couple days ago that I have lost the permission on generating reports but got no reply back. Changing this back to local system account helped but I am scared if it might cause another issues Thank you ________________________________ From: Wayne Berry [mailto:wayne@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Fri 3/4/2005 7:33 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: firewall service stops http://www.ISAserver.org Ara, What happens when your firewall fails? Do you lose your network? What are the error messages in the event viewer? I have been working on a Service called ISAReset, that will monitor the Microsoft Firewall and stop/start/kill/reboot to get it going again. This is much like the iisreset program that comes with Microsoft IIS server. -Wayne The ISAPI Dev Lurking on the ISA Admin List -----Original Message----- From: Ara [mailto:ara@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, March 04, 2005 6:14 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] firewall service stops http://www.ISAserver.org Hello Would someone confirm this with me please? Right after applying service pack I get firewall services failures, what I have done if removing download security and change the firewall service to run under local system account not nt authority. Then it worked. So the question is which account is right and what are the side effects coming out of it? By the way, I get so many web proxies filter failures and after service pack and client web browsing disconnection which this solved it for me Help is appreciated 2004 standard edition with service pack 1 ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: wayne@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: ara@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx All mail to and from this domain is GFI-scanned.
