bypass proxy for local addresses

Hello and thanks,
We have several servers providing web based apps. We would like
them to bypass the proxy server. However, when I enter in the server
ip, 10.9.1.1, in the advanced area of the connection settings, after
checking by proxy for local addresses, it still goes out through the
proxy server. I would really like to exclude all of our local servers
by putting in 10.*, but this did not work. Does anyone know how to make
this work?
