The original question is can I use the routing in windows 2003 and ISA 2004 to allow a desktop wireless card form an access point so that my laptop can get service in the server room without me worrying about plugging in. Ok, maybe a bit long winded. I can get it somewhat working thru using it as an Ad-Hoc network, and it even was able to assign an IP from DHCP on the windows 2003 machine. But the connection is not right, no internet, no DNS I expect. I have not spent much time with it, and I don't want to waste any unnecessarily attempts that aren't going to work. I'm not a network Guru, not a guru at all. Looking for advice on if it can be done and how the best way to get it done. And maybe the best way is with a wireless router, just seems to me this should work as well Thanks, Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: Thomas W Shinder To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2006 4:23 PM Subject: [isalist] RE: Wireless Access with ISA http://www.ISAserver.org Hi Mark, I'm not sure what the question is. Maybe I've already answered your questions. The one thing I did have problem with was I had to use static IP's on the wireless side as I couldn't get DHCP Relay agent working to forward DHCP requests from wireless to Internal LAN. And yes I did use AD-HOC, although the range wasn't brilliant, so I went out and bought a WAP, it was easier and less hassle. I would like to try to add a wireless network card to service a laptop only, I still have wired connections throughout the rest of the environment. What I would like to do is just use a desktop card inside the server to work together with the router inside ISA. I do not want to add a wireless router, as I felt that the routing is best done with in isa. Can ISA do this ? Will windows 2003 DHCP server be able to issue this card, as well as any connected cards an IP address. Has this been done, or am I trying something that will not work. Anyone care to help out with this ?
