Not sure if this helps.
I had similar issues after the Windows Update was upgraded to the new
version. I found a Microsoft article, which mentioned enabling anonymous
access to windows update sites through the ISA server. That worked for
me. I have enabled specific rules to allow anonymous access only to
windows update sites.

LOL what a moron, show me in Tom's book were it explains anything about
using Windows Update on your ISA 2004 Server.
1) I have his book, even a extra copied which was signed by him
personally.
2) The issue in question only happened after MS updated Windows
Update to v6.
3) The Error code I get is 0x80072EE2.
4) I can see ISA connecting to Microsoft via the logs, don't see
anything out of the ordinary.
If you have a hard time reading and understanding this Joseph I think
you need to go back to kindergarten were you belong, I just hope they
put the dunce cap on your head the first day; it suits you well.

Windows Update doesn't work for me anymore on ISA 2004 Server since MS
updated it placing a new icon in the start menu. ISA 2004 goes to
Windows Update website and never makes pass the scanning process without
giving an error message. Is there away to fix this?
