And the fact that it's not even an exchange question.

There are a multitude of SMTP and POP mail servers in the world. They
are not all the same.

Dear All,

i have some questions regarding POP3, i want to know :-

2-how many versions for POP3 ? & how i know the version which i am using
or working with it ? and is there any special command for each version ?

i mean i know the following cammands for POP3 :-

user,Pass,List,Rete,Dele,Rset,Quit,Top.

but i do not know what the version of that POP3 ?

3- also i installed locally here in my lab, Advanced server 2000, SP4,
with Exchange 2000, and configure the users already, when i type the
following comamnd from local Server ( Telnet 110.0.0.182 110 ), i found
that i got this messages :-

+OK Microsoft Exchange 2000 POP3 server version 6.0.4417.0
(mmt.test.com) ready.

while if i make telnet on the server hosted in USA , i found that the
reply as the following :-

( +OK POP3 localhost v2001.78rh server ready ) and on other server also
its like that :-
( +OK POP3 Server Ready. ) , why i am getting this different ?

also when i am trying to use some command on local exchange server in my
lab i found that its display the follwoing error mesage (
ERR Logon Failure: unknown user name or Bad Password. ) while i am sure
that the user name & Password is correct ? and when i am typing quit , i
got this Error message in front of me :-

ERR Protocol Error .

can any one Please tell me what is going on ?
