I'm running a 2003 Standard Edition server, and the only articles I find referencing this version is for Exchange 2003, otherwise they say not to use this switch. Should I or shouldn't I? -----Original Message----- From: Ball, Dan [mailto:DBall@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2005 14:36 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Weird caching problem. http://www.ISAserver.org I remember doing that on a few servers, but don't recall doing it on that one when I rebuilt it after Xmas. So, no, probably not. -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2005 13:29 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Weird caching problem. http://www.ISAserver.org Hi Dan, Are you using the /3GB switch? Do you know if the amount of CPU utilization is directly correlated to amount of memory allocated? I have 4GB of physical memory, and it seemed to be working great with about 1GB in use by the SQL service. Now that it using a bit more memory, it seems to also be utilizing more of the CPUs time. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Harrison [mailto:Jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2005 sp_configure 'show advanced options',1 reconfigure with override go sp_configure 'max server memory', nnnn reconfigure with override (where nnnn is in mb) go exit 3 - restart MSDE - note that you'll also have to restart the ISA Firewall service manually. ..I'd recommend giving MSDE at least 1/3 physical RAM, depending on how much your system actually has.
