The SOCKS proxy doesn't "do" web requests...
Are you using client authentication for your outbound traffic?
Are you requiring user auth?

Here is additional info.  I tried using the SOCKS proxy and still get 
a 12202 error!  But with a slightly different web page.  (I'm really 
confused here.  Did the SOCKS app filter redirect or does it know 
about HTTP?)  I get two entries in the firewall log, one with a 
session status of 0 and one with 20000.  I tried it with an IP-only 
URL, too.        -- Dar
