This is for an apartment building, so it would get light to medium usage. He's trying to replace a Cisco 1800 that he could never get working right (no surprise). I've been trying to talk him into a full-fledge network merging all of his buildings, he's a bit hesitant to make the move though... So, you're ranking the Watchguard down there in the gutter with the PIX? -----Original Message----- From: isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:isalist-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Thomas W Shinder Sent: Thursday, June 22, 2006 3:21 PM To: isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [isalist] Re: Watchguard? http://www.ISAserver.org ------------------------------------------------------- Hi Dan, For people going on the cheap so that they don't want to invest in an ISA or Check Point, then a Dlink works fine for them: http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=486 (99 bucks) If you need a remote access VPN server, you can couple it up with a unihomed Windows VPN server located behind the device and "port forward" the connections. It ain't no ISA firewall, but for those going on the low end, it's a lot smarter than going with Watchguard or PIX.
