Hi Tim,

Why would it be a security issue?

Subject: [isalist] WAN miniport (PPPOE) in ISA server

http://www.ISAserver.org
Hi,

I am not sure if this is normal, but I've heard this is a security risk
by some. I have a ISA 2000/VPN server. When I checked the property for
the port node in RRAS mmc, I saw WAN miniport (PPPOE) along with WAN
miniport (PPTP) and WAN miniport (LT2P). LT2P is not used. We have a
full T1 line and not DSL/cable modem.

Why do I have the WAN miniport (PPPOE)? Under the 'used by' column, it
says 'none' and 'number of ports used' column, it says 1. I've seen in
a newsgroup that this is dangerous and must be removed.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

ts
