Hi NetBT is disabled on the external NIC not the internal. Should I enable it? What difference can or does it make? Thanks again William -----Original Message----- From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 19 March 2003 02:15 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: VPN and SQL http://www.ISAserver.org Hi William, Why is NetBT disabled on the internal NIC? Again, ISA Server policies are not applied to VPN clients. VPN clients are considered LAT hosts, and hopefully your assigning them IP addresses that are on the LAT. Could this have something to do with it? What could I risk if I enable them ? So I VPN into a network protected by ISA. I authenticate ok, I can use RDP , ping and other basic stuff. I need to establish an ODBC connector from the remote VPN client to the SQL server on the ISA machine. I cannot seem to get to create the ODBC. I tried both with Windows authentication and SQL SA login. I keep getting an error which effectively tells me server not found. What do I need to do. Must I open up something on ISA? Any help really appreciated William ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org/ Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') Click 'Edit H <file:///D:\User%20Files\wilengland\Images\CARS\GTOengine.jpg> TML' to insert an HTML disclaimer <a href="http://www.gfi.com/images/topindex.jpg"; > ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org/ Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: administrator@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org/ Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') Click 'Edit H <file:///D:\User%20Files\wilengland\Images\CARS\GTOengine.jpg> TML' to insert an HTML disclaimer <a href="http://www.gfi.com/images/topindex.jpg"; > ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org/ Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: administrator@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
