VPN Protocol

It was mentioned briefly about using L2TP instead of PPTP for the VPN
connection. Is there a reason for this? Is there doco on the web
somewhere that explains why to use either one?

I noticed if I set my connectoid to use L2TP instead of PPTP I get and
error about a certificate. What certificate?
