There is no requirement to extend the schema by running the Enterprise
Init tool when upgrading to AD.  You can keep the two servers as
stand-alone member servers as long as you like.

Existing ISA environment consists of two Standalone ISA Servers in an
NT4 domain. 
This domain is being upgraded to AD.  
Once this is done, is running the enterprise initialization tool to add
the AD components/objects/classes required?  Keeping both of the boxes
as standalone servers is the planned procedure, I was just curious if
the AD component was required if the systems were not to be placed in an
array.
