I agree. when i did one earlier this year i shadowed the isa 2000 box with the 2006 box for a while to make sure we hadn't missed anything. It was an effective way to do it.

The whole design of ISA2004/2006 is completely different than ISA2000,
which is why an "upgrade" isn't quite practical. The whole design of
how things are processed has changed.

When I upgraded to 2004, I sat down and wrote out exactly what we wanted
it to do, and then rebuilt the server from scratch using the new design.
You should probably think about doing that also, as the benefits of
upgrading are enormous.

Uhg. That is really annoying especially for those of us that do not get
our hands dirty with ISA a lot. We have set it up years ago and it has
ran flawlessly...

As much as I would like to upgrade, I might just let it ride. :(

Nope.
No supported upgrade path from 2000 to 2006.
You *could* upgrade to the demo version of 2004, export with "private
information" and use that to import into 2006, but your rules will be
greatly changed.

Is this supported? It's a VERY simple single ISA install on the
perimeter of the network that does VPN and some web publishing.

Thanks for any info!
