when I
get back.

Hi Dan,

Are your WINS servers OK? Check your WINS databases and make sure that
replication is working correctly. Also, confirm that your VPN clients
are being assigned the correct WINS server addresses.

Subject: [isalist] UNC - VPN

http://www.ISAserver.org

I have an ISA server set up to accept VPN connections. The ISA server is
installed in integrated mode. Behind it is a W2k Server (DC) and an XP
Pro
box among others, all have the latest updates and service packs
including
the ISA server. When I first set this up I could connect via the VPN and
use
either RDP or UNC depending on what I needed to do. Recently the UNC
method
stopped working; the error is "Network path not found". I can use a UNC
path
on the inside to access shares but not from the outside. RDP still works
from the outside via VPN using just the computer name, which is what is
confusing me. I don't understand how it can resolve the machine name
using
RDP and not using \\MachineName.

I recently disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on all machines but I don't
"think"
that is the problem because I've re-enabled it and it still doesn't
work.
After disabling NetBIOS I used UNC's to access shares on other machines.
What the heck am I missing here?

Thanks for any help,

       Dan
